Mevys Blooms on Third Avenue: A New Greenhouse in Rochester

Third Avenue Southeast in Rochester has a vibrant new addition: Mevys, a flower shop and greenhouse owned by Evelyn Friederichs. Located in the Dakota Supply Trade Group parking lot, across from The Graham and below Pet Country feed store, Mevys offers a wide array of plants, from vegetables and potted selections to hanging baskets.

Evy, inspired by friends with a greenhouse up north, started her venture after a part-time opportunity at 15 years old. Now, her greenhouse showcases thriving tomato plants, fragrant herbs like oregano and dill, and a selection of pumpkins, squash, zucchini, and peppers. Hanging baskets in 11 and 12-inch sizes add instant color, alongside elegant ferns and convenient six-packs of marigolds.

"My favorite would probably be the geraniums," Friederichs shares, admiring their vibrant colors and varied sizes. She also recommends the easy-to-care-for petunias.

The arrival of Mevys injects a fresh wave of entrepreneurial spirit into the Third Avenue corridor. This isn't just a place to purchase plants; it's a testament to local initiative and a commitment to bringing beauty and nature closer to the community.

Mevys Greenhouse is open weekdays from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., on weekends they are open from 8 a.m. 6 p.m. Saturdays and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
