Family Tradition Blooms: Diseño Floral Moreno Opens in Rochester

Diseño Floral Moreno, now located at 308 1st Ave NW in Rochester, opened its doors on Friday, December 5, 2025. The shop brings a family tradition from Mexico to Minnesota, growing through determination and community support.

The shop is co-owned by Maira Moreno, who recently shared how her family brought their floral craft to Rochester. During our Market Update segment, Realty Growth’s Leighann Peltoman checked out the shop and learned how the business came to life. Three years ago, Maira and her family moved from Texas to seek medical treatment for her mother at Mayo Clinic.

The transition to Minnesota brought its challenges, but it also led them to a place where they felt supported and welcomed. That encouragement helped fuel the decision to take their longstanding family trade and build it into a storefront of their own.

The craft behind Diseño Floral Moreno began generations earlier in Mexico. Maira’s grandfather was the first in the family to work with flowers, and the trade was eventually passed down to her uncle and then to her mother and now Maira. Each generation learned the techniques and artistry that define the shop’s designs today. For the Moreno family, floral design is not simply a business but a living connection to their roots.

The shop first operated out of temporary spaces, beginning in a hotel and later from the family’s home. With the growing demand for custom floral arrangements and the desire to better serve Rochester, the family decided it was time to secure a permanent location. That step was made possible with the help of Leighann Peltoma at Realty Growth, who assisted the family in leasing their commercial space.

Today, Diseño Floral Moreno offers floral arrangements of all kinds, including roses, bouquets and custom creations for gifts and special occasions. Their Facebook page highlights their connection to the Spanish speaking community and serves as the primary place for customers to place orders and inquire about services.
