BalletCorps Brings New Energy to Rochester’s Dance Scene

The studio sits in the Slumberland commercial complex and is the creation of Daniel Blake, a longtime instructor and respected figure in the local dance community.

After more than a decade of teaching in Rochester, Blake set out to build a space that could nurture both passion and precision. He personally constructed the studio’s 2,700-square-foot sprung dance floor, a seven-layer basket-weave design engineered to reduce impact and protect dancers’ joints. The attention to detail reflects the kind of training environment Blake wants to provide serious, safe, and built for growth.

BalletCorps focuses on creating a balance between technical discipline and the joy of performance. Blake encourages dancers to give their best in every class while maintaining a positive and engaging atmosphere. His goal is not only to train skilled performers but also to foster a genuine love for the art form.
