Downtown Rochester Gains Creative Hub: Ark the Agency Opens Doors
Rochester, MN – Downtown Rochester has a new spark of creativity, thanks to the opening of Ark the Agency, a strategy first brand strategy and design firm that also offers a unique space for local photographers and filmmakers. Located on the sixth floor of 206 South Broadway, Ark is the brainchild of Bryan Rodriguez, a seasoned photographer, filmmaker, and branding expert, who recently welcomed local real estate agent Leigh Ann Peltoma for an exclusive tour.
After five years of working from his basement, Bryan decided it was time for a dedicated space, driven by a growing film project requiring a studio set. "Working from home with five kids was challenging," Bryan explained, "I needed a space to house my equipment and foster creativity."
Leigh Ann was particularly excited about Ark's location, noting the revitalization it brings to Downtown Rochester. "Since COVID, downtown hasn't been as vibrant," she said. "It's wonderful to see such a cool space opening here."
Bryan revealed the transformation of the once-empty space. "It was concrete floors and bare walls," he recalled. "But with vision and the help of some great people, we've created something truly special."
Ark the Agency offers two distinct, yet complementary, services. Firstly, it functions as a full-service brand strategy and design agency. "We work with companies to create or recreate their brands," Bryan explained, emphasizing that a brand is more than just a logo. "It's all the touch points that encompass a company." He highlighted the agency's commitment to craftsmanship, where even their espresso takes time to prepare, reflecting their belief that "good design takes time."
Secondly, Ark provides a rental space for photographers and filmmakers, complete with a wide array of equipment. "I've accumulated a lot of gear over the years," Bryan said. "This space allows others to utilize it, whether for product photography, headshots, or film projects." The studio boasts lights, cameras, colored backdrops, and sound equipment, essentially providing everything needed for creative endeavors.
"I'm really excited to bring this to Rochester," Bryan shared, a sentiment echoed by Leigh Ann. "I'm excited I got to help you and that you found such a really unique location for what you're doing," she responded.
The breathtaking view from the sixth-floor windows adds to the studio's appeal. "It's a super cool view," Bryan admitted. "It's a good place to have coffee or, you know, eventually we'll make cocktails up here."
When asked about staying focused with such a stunning backdrop, Bryan joked, "My peripheral is looking at the skyline, and then I just jotted everything I need to jot down."
For those interested in connecting with Ark the Agency, Bryan recommends following them on Instagram: @arktheagency. "We're most active on Instagram," he said.
