The Pediatric Transplant House Opens for Mayo Clinic Families

The Pediatric Transplant House, part of the Gift of Life Transplant House campus, is the first facility in the state designed specifically for pediatric transplant patients. The house provides a supportive environment for children from birth through age 18 and their immediate families while they receive treatment.

The house is located at 624 W. Center Street, just a few blocks from Mayo Clinic’s main campuses, offering families convenient access to appointments and medical care. The facility can host up to three families at a time, providing enough space for children, siblings, and multiple caregivers.

This setup allows families to stay together, which is especially important for children’s emotional well-being during treatment.

The property itself has been part of the Gift of Life Transplant House campus for several years, serving as part of the nonprofit’s broader mission to provide affordable lodging for transplant patients and caregivers from across the country and world.

The building was recently restored and reconfigured with pediatric-friendly spaces, including family bedrooms, shared kitchens and common areas, a toy room, and a TV room to help young patients feel more comfortable.

By combining proximity to Mayo Clinic with thoughtfully designed accommodations, the Pediatric Transplant House expands the support available to families during a challenging time.
